Journaling is a self defined practice.

Journaling might be defined as: The act of keeping a journal. Logging or detailing events, thoughts, dreams, opinions, illustrations, photos, articles and ideas. Keeping a record, that when reviewed can aid in the recovery of memories.The process of becoming aware of your inner thoughts, feelings, and motivations through writing. Journaling can have benefits related to your health and wellbeing. Journaling can be a useful dialogue with yourself, as the writer is the primary audience.

Historically, Journaling is thoght to go as far back as the records on cave walls. Journaling the hunt perhaps. Later as writing was developed, journaling was obviously part of the need to create written symbols in the first place. Greek astronimers developed journaling skills as a matter of science. In the 10th Century, "Pillow Books" became popular in Japan, and were used to record daily lives and thoughts.
