Definition:
PVC-Free (polyvinyl chloride free) - PVC releases gases that cause art, photos, some papers, art materials (and the environment!) to deteriorate at an accelerated rate. Toxic PVC gases will cause a photo to completely fade in two to five years. PVC-free materials are commonly used by artists, printers, manufacturers, bookmakers and publishers who care about artifacts and wish to extend the life of artifacts (and the earth) where contact will harm the article (or all life on the planet). No joke! PVC has been banned some places and is slowly being dealt with elsewhere. Keep art and art carriers, storage containers and art itself PVC-FREE.
