One-piece styles are matte-laminated for durability, and the onlay style use only the finest European-made natural cloth for the ultimate journal.
Smythe Sewn binding was invented by an Irish-American named David McConnell Smyth (1833-1807). A self taught pioneer of modern day bookbinding equipment, Smythe produced the finest stiched binding equipment and techniques in centuries. His contributions to bookbinding has made his name virtually synonymous in the United States with machine book sewing.
